Well unfortunately my internet was down yesterday so I had to resort to good old-fashioned pen and paper again.
Sunday 21 June:
“So today I ran the Nike 10km – my first one and also a PB – whoo hoo! Although the run was a bit boring, Nike definitely made up for it with music pumping around the course including bursts of live music from steel pans, violins and other musicians. The music stage before and festival vibes after were epic.
Daddy Dark (Charlie Dark) was hosting the event and good tunes were in full effect. What with a beautiful Alex Monroe designed necklace, a goody bag with all sorts of treats and a glass of fizz at the finish line – what more could a lady want? Nike certainly knows how to put on a great show and I was very impressed to say the least! So thank you Nike, you definitely set the bar – if only all races were like this!
One thing that was beyond amazing was the epic, strong and supportive guys from Run Dem Crew. These guys absolutely rocked, they hi-fived, popped confetti canons, screamed words of encouragement. If only a lot more men could adapt the same principles and show the same support to their wives, girlfriends, sisters or daughters. It would really make a difference and would also show your loved ones how much you care and value what they are doing. Maybe one to think about next time when you opt to lie in bed or watch television instead?
As these absolute legends took the time out of their weekend to come along and show support to the girls and boy did we need and appreciate it. It was selfless, it was true and it from the heart – if you don’t run you must cheer and that’s what they did and we loved them for it – so thank you!”
